May 9th - Echo

Carter got his echo done today to see if the heart mess worked to help close his PDA valve. Most preemies his age have to endure two rounds of the mess and/or surgery to close the valve. Not Carter! The meds worked very successfully and his murmur is very faint now. Incredible news!

He also got his mainline today snaked up through his foot into his abdomen. He was a trooper, even when he had to have the tape pulled off his ankle to have it repositioned.

His belly button is showing now! I hear it's very cute - I couldn't see it because he was flipped over on his tummy today. He seems to like it - breathing is good, heart rate is good. This should help him digest the food that they resumed feeding him (moms milk) today.

All in all, very productive day for the little man. Hopefully he keeps up the pace like we know he can!
